The seventh Asia-Europe Meeting summit will be held in the Chinese capital in just three days, with the recent financial crisis topping the agenda. Singapore's Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong says the summit will help Asian and European countries find ways to survive the spreading turmoil.

Goh recalled that during the 1997 Asian financial crisis, China played a vital role in helping its neighbors. He said the upcoming ASEM summit will lead to a new boom in trade between the two continents providing a better platform for exchange and business opportunities between Europe and Asia.
