World powers at a 145-nation meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency have urged the DPRK to stop reactivating its weapons-producing atomic program. The motion was adopted as Pyongyang vowed last month to rebuild the Yongbyon nuclear plant.

The IAEA general conference in Vienna passed a resolution urging the DPRK not to revive its suspended nuclear program. The motion stressed the need for a diplomatic solution that will see a Korean peninsula free of nuclear weapons.

Ayhan Evrensel, the IAEA spokesman, said, "The 145 members of the IAEA, in a consensus decision, supported the six-party talks which aim to denuclearise the North Korean peninsula, and they decided that the IAEA's monitoring and verification activities of the shutdown status of North Korea's facilities in Yongbyon should continue."
