Hill says his goal is to persuade Pyongyang to agree to Washington's demand for a verification system to account for the country's nuclear activities.

The US State Department says Hill will not offer Pyongyang a new way of verifying its nuclear activities, but suggest ways to adjust the sequencing of steps the relevant parties have agreed to take.

The DPRK started to disable its Yongbyon nuclear facility last November as part of a deal reached in the Six Party talks. But over the past several weeks, the country has begun to revive the Yongbyon reactor and has expelled UN nuclear inspectors.
