Since its establishment in 1996, this center has successfully managed four previous unmanned and two manned "Shenzhou" space flights, as well as China's first lunar orbit program.

The main responsibility of the BACCC is the flight control for China's manned space mission. It oversees every instruction sent from the ground up to the spacecship, every set of data put into the computer, and every decision made at critical moments.
