The curtain finally fell on Beijing's two-month sporting spectacle with an emotional closing ceremony of the Paralympic Games. The Paralympics opened on 6th September, 18 days after the end of the Olympics. More than 4-thousand elite disabled athletes from 147 countries and regions competed in 20 sports to make the Beijing Games the biggest Paralympics ever.

The eyes of the world once again fall on the Bird's Nest. A performance called "a letter to the future" bid farewell to the Paralympians in Beijing.

China's efforts to host a Paralympics with a splendor equal to the Olympics have been widely applauded.

The President of International Paralympic Committee Philip Craven said, " These are the greatest Paralympic Games ever. The Paralympic spirit that is ever bright in our movement, found here in China, a kindred spirit. Now these spirits are united, One World, One Dream, and One People has become a reality."
