Zhang Jigang, Executive Director of Paralympic Opening Ceremony said "We present this ceremony as a journey of space, time and life. We intended to demonstrate the shining human nature and humanitarian spirit. The whole opening ceremony displayed the dignity and value of life."

Nearly 5,000 performers participated in the ceremony. The spectacular show was the result of the cooperation between the performers with disabilities and those without.

They began training together for the show two years ago.

Zhang Yimou, Director-General of Paralympic Opening & Closing Ceremonies said "The preparatory work of the Paralympic opening ceremony kicked off at the same time as the preparations of the Olympic opening ceremony. All the performers have made great efforts over the past two years. They deserve perfect scores."

The directors all agreed they learned a lot from people with disabilities, which deepened their understanding about the value of life.

Love and care, Chinese characteristics, the value of life, these are the key words to describe the just-concluded Paralympic opening ceremony. And a striving spirit was shown by nearly three hours of vivid and visual scenes. That spirit will now live on as the athletes compete for medals and pursue excellence throughout the Games.
