Thailand's prime minister says he won't negotiate with a radical group that has occupied his office in a bid to force him from his post.

Samak Sundaravej has already called for a referendum to ask the people if they support the campaign led by the People's Alliance for Democracy. But he has not rejected a proposal by Parliament to let the Senate's speaker to act as a mediator.

Samak also said he will meet with security officials to discuss whether to lift the state of emergency he has imposed in Bangkok since Tuesday.

Protests have continued and more than 300 students have rallied at police headquarters in Bangkok in a major demonstration against the government.
