This traditional Beijing courtyard house is the Xinjiekou Sweet Home. The recreation and rehabilitation center opened in May and has now become home for many disabled people in the area. Jiang Liyuan comes here every day and practices Chinese calligraphy.

Jiang Liyuan said, "I have to use a wheelchair and it's inconvenient for me to go out. But here, with all kinds of barrier-free facilities, it's easy for me. More importantly, I can meet people here and we are all in the same situation. It's really good to go out and I feel very happy here."

Aside from enjoyment, people also get training here.

Wang Zhuolan and Zhang Shuping are mentally handicapped. They've been taught how to make dumplings here. For them, this piece of ordinary work means a great step forward.
