Hu Jintao meets world leaders from Central Asia and Trans-Caucasia

Chinese President Hu Jintao continues to meet with world leaders who arrived in Beijing to attend the Opening Ceremony for the 29th Olympiad.

President Hu met five leaders from Central Asia and  Trans-Caucasia.

The five visiting presidents congratulated China on the successful opening of the Beijing Olympics on Friday, and expressed appreciation for the rewarding efforts made by the Chinese government and people in organizing the grand event.

Hu Jintao said he is confident the Beijing Games will be distinctive, and of high standards, thanks to the strong assistance and active participation of the international community.

The Chinese President praised the five countries as traditional friends of China. He pledged to work with the leaders to bring bilateral ties to new heights. All sides expressed willingness to continuously strengthen mutually-beneficial cooperation with China in various fields.
