The largest media village in Olympic Games history has officially opened in Beijing. A brief ceremony was held on Friday morning at the gate of North Star Media Village, also called the Green Homeland, to welcome journalists who will cover the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

North Star is only 15 minutes away by bus from the Main Press Center and International Broadcast Center and has around 6000 rooms. The media village has support services, such as a post office, bank, supermarket, gyms, swimming pool, and laundry.

Journalists will be able to travel on shuttle buses, some of which will operate round-the-clock during the games.
