The Mediterranean country of Cyprus will send a 17-member team to compete in the Olympics. Four athletes will compete in sailing, one of the country's all-time favorite sports.

The manager of the Cyprus Olympic squad says the country started training for the games three years ago, and athletes are in good form to make breakthroughs in this year's Games.

In Europe, 18-year-old Fei Baoyao will represent the Netherlands in martial arts. He is the sole European athlete qualified for the event.

He says participating the Games makes him happy and proud, and he hopes to win a medal in Beijing.

In Brazil, Marilson Santos is one of the country's track and field celebrities. The long-distance runner was the first South American to win the New York City Marathon in 2006.

He says the Beijing Games is his first Olympics and could even be his last. He says he will give 120 percent.

Kenya often dominates the long-distance running events. The country won seven gold medals in track and field four years ago.

The lineup of Kenya's 37 track and field athletes was decided on Sunday in front of tens of thousands of spectators.
