Vice President Xi inspects Olympic equestrian venues in Hong Kong

Vice President Xi Jinping is in Hong Kong for a three-day inspection tour of the Special Administration Region. He met with the chief executive of the SAR on Sunday, and visited Hong Kong's Olympic equestrian venues.

Speaking upon his arrival, Xi Jinping said the main purpose of his three-day visit is to see Hong Kong's preparations for the equestrian events of the Beijing Olympics and Paralympics. He also extended his best regards to Hong Kong residents.

Xi Jingpin then met with chief executive of Hong Kong SAR, Donald Tsang. He told Tsang that the central government is satisfied with his work and the work of his regional government.

Xi Jinping pointed out that due to the influence of soaring food and oil prices, Hong Kong is facing mounting inflation pressures. He said it has affected the daily lives of local people, but the SAR government has adopted measures to tackle the issues.

Xi Jinping added that the central government will continue to support the SAR government's efforts to boost economic development and improve the livelihood of the local people.
