Epidemic prevention work continues in China's earthquake disaster areas. Hundreds of PLA soldiers are disinfecting one particular high-risk farm in Beichuan.

Soldiers need to have the farm and all nearby villages disinfected to avoid any outbreaks.

More than 10,000 pigs were living at this farm when the May 12th earthquake struck. Many of them were buried under the rubble.

Days after the earthquake, the farm was completely destroyed by the drainage water from the Tangjiashan quake lake.

Having been buried underground for over a month, the bodies of the pigs are now posing a severe threat to epidemic prevention efforts in the quake-hit areas.

And conducting anti-epidemic operations is no easy task for the soldiers.

They must dig out all the bodies of the pigs, disinfect them and bury them deep in the ground.

They also need to have the farm and all nearby villages disinfected to avoid any outbreaks.

They marched a 15-kilometer route to the farm and immediately got to work.

So far, they've disinfected the farm and its surrounding area of 20,000 square meters.

The chief expert in China's epidemic prevention center, Zeng Guang, was also at the site. He said that thanks to a massive and effective disinfection program, there have been no outbreaks in the quake zone so far.
