With its water levels rising at a rate of two meters per day, the Tangjiashan barrier lake is set to burst by Wednesday. Many downstream areas in Mianyang are likely to be flooded. Meanwhile, about 200,000 residents are huddling in tents, bracing for the flood's impact on their homes.
This is one of many tent communities in Mianyang, a temporary shelter for over 3000 people. Their homes have been cordoned off in anticipation of the flood.
Staying outside all day, in temperatures higher than 30 degrees Celsius, is no easy task, but many people here have found a way to while away the time.
Managing such a large settlement, however, is a different matter.
