Number of unclaimed children decreasing

Officials are scaling back their estimate of how many orphans the earthqake has left behind. More children have been reunited with their parents.

By Wednesday, there are 1000 unclaimed children in Sichuan Province. That compares with over 8000 children separated from their parents in the first couple of days after the quake.

Officials in Sichuan say the children without parents are being cared for at local welfare houses or are staying with relatives.
