UNITED NATIONS, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Chinese staff members serving at the UN Headquarters have donated more than 45,000 U.S. dollars to Chinese earthquake victims, the Chinese UN mission announced Wednesday.

As of Wednesday, the contributions received by the Chinese mission, part of which was made by Undersecretary-general for Economic and Social Affairs Sha Zukang, have totaled 45,922 U.S. dollars.

Wang Guangya, China's permanent representative to the UN, and his deputy, ambassador Liu Zhenmin, have thanked the Chinese employees for their care and love for the quake victims.

In the past few days, Chinese employees working at the UN also paid visits to the residence of the Chinese mission to mourn the quake victims.

They are also planning to launch a charity bazaar at the UN Headquarters in recent days to raise more funds, the mission said.
