Torchbearers march towards the summit of Mt. Qomolangma

The 12 torchbearers, who will conquer the world's highest peak with the Sacred Flame of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, began their historic expedition at 1:48 Beijing Time.

Though the 8,300-meter camp of Mt. Qomolangma is less than 500 meters away from the highest point, 8844.43m, it will take the team about 8 hours to reach there.
