Central gov´t officials meet representatives of Dalai Lama

WATCH VIDEO

Since the year 2000, the officials said, the central government had managed to hold six meetings with the Dalai Lama's private representatives in spite of a number of obstacles. They noted that the riot in Lhasa on March 14th had given rise to new obstacles for resuming contacts and consultations with the Dalai side. But the central government still arranged this meeting with great patience and sincerity.

The two officials stressed the central government hopes that the Dalai side will take credible steps to stop activities aimed at splitting China, cease masterminding and instigating violence and refrain from disrupting and sabotaging the Beijing Olympic Games.

The two representatives also expressed their views on relevant matters and said they would report truthfully to the Dalai Lama what had been discussed at the meeting.
