The secretary-general of New Zealand's Olympic Committee says the Beijing Olympics will be successful whether those politicians attend the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics or not.

Barry Maister made the remarks during an interview with CCTV in New Zealand's capital city of Wellington on Tuesday. Referring to a call for a boycott of the Olympics by some politicians in the West Maister said the Games are a grand sports event that have nothing to do with politics.
