A number of American Olympic champions hoping to compete in the Beijing Games, have also been condemning Tibet independence activists, for trying to sabotage the summer event.

Swimming superstar Michael Phelps, who won six gold medals during the Sydney Olympics, expressed his hope to repeat the glory at the Beijing Games.

The elite athletes voiced their desire to be at the Beijing Games at the 2008 US Olympic Team Media Summit held on Monday.

Former gymnastics world champion Anastasia Liukin says those who attempted to boycott the Olympics should care for the ideas of the athletes. Their attack on the games equals smashing an athletes Olympic dreams.

The famed wrestler Lyndsay says disrupting the games shows no respects for the athletes, who have trained hard for the occasion.

The former swimming Olympic champion, Sheila Taomina, who's going to compete at the Modern Pentathlon during the Beijing Games, also agreed that political differences should in no way affect the great sporting event.
