The comments came as Russia's United Nations ambassador urged Iran to drop its opposition to talks with six key nations to ensure that its nuclear programme is peaceful.

Mhoammed Ali Hosseini, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, said, "We reject any package, plan, idea and incentives which requires the Islamic Republic of Iran to suspend its nuclear activities or violates rights of the Iranian nation or even limits Iranian people's rights,"

The six countries - the US, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany - have offered Iran a package of incentives if it suspends uranium enrichment.
