Yuan Shijian runs a telecommunication equipment shop in Lhasa. His shop was robbed during the riots. During Yuan's restoration of his business, he has enjoyed many preferential offers from local government.

Yuan Shijian, Lhasa Businessman, said, "We used to pay house rent of 4 thousand yuan a month. Now the government covers 90 percent of that. It's a great financial help and releases lots of my pressure."

Besides rent, the government is also providing preferential taxing polices on business and owners. Riot-affected proprietors can also get interest subsides when they take out loans less than 1 million yuan.

Duan Xiangzheng, Director of Tibet Admin for Industry & Commerce, said, "All the new measures are to help affected-businesses to re-establish their confidence and restore operation as soon as possible."
