Foreign officials voice support for Chinese gov´t over Tibet riots

Senior officials in many countries have voiced their support for the Chinese government over the recent violence in Tibet Autonomous Region. They are encouraging China to use legal means to deal with the unrest and to fight Tibetan independence. Many expressed their confidence that the successful hosting of the Beijing Olympics will not be affected.

A Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman says China should take all necessary measures to put an end to the illegal acts and bring the situation back to normal in Lhasa. He says Tibet is an unalienable part of China. And the situation between the government and the Dalai clique is within China's internal affairs. He added that any move aimed at politicizing the Beijing Olympic Games would be unacceptable.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministry of Belarus expressed support to the Chinese government over the riots in Tibet. They voiced firm opposition to any move trying to sabotage the Olympics as well as China's territorial integrity.

And Pakistan says it firmly supports China's effort to maintain its territorial integrity and sovereignty. Pakistan's foreign ministry says it rejects any separatist movement for Tibet independence. And it also says it is confident the Beijing Olympics will be very successful.

India's Foreign Minister has urged the Dalai clique to refrain from pursuing any political activities.

Lebanon's Interior Ministry says its country supports China's stability, territorial integrity and Beijing's hosting of the 29th Olympic Games.

And in Sierra Leone, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation says her country can clearly discern the intention of the Dalai Lama clique. And that Sierra Leone understands that the clique is instigating violence in Tibet to promote separatism of the region and to disturb the Beijing Olympics.

The President of Tunisia's Chamber of Advisers says Tibet is an inseparable part of the Chinese territory. He also pointed out the Olympics is a grand gathering of sports and is bound to be successful.

Egypt's ruling National Democratic Party says Egypt supports the measures taken by the Chinese government to restore stability and safety in Tibet. And he says he believes the Chinese government has the ability and wisdom to handle the incident properly.

Lesotho has also voiced support for China's effort to normalize the situation in Tibet and the holding of the Olympics. The country says the Tibet issue is part of China's internal affairs. It also says other countries should not make biased and irresponsible comments.

Mauritania, Cote d'Ivoire and the Republic of Congo have also expressed firm support for measures the Chinese government has taken to curb the violence in Tibet.

Meanwhile, diplomatic missionaries from Arab countries have expressed their concern over the violent attacks in Lhasa. They are encouraging the Chinese government to bring the rioters to justice. And also to protect China's social stability and safeguard the rule of law.

In Asia, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, as well as Singapore and Vietnam have strongly denounced the unsavory moves by the Dalai clique to seek independence for Tibet and scuttle the upcoming Beijing Olympics. They say they believe China will take appropriate measures to protect the fundamental interests of all ethnic groups in Tibet.
