During Sunday's plenary meeting of the first annual session of the 11th National People's Congress, Wen Jiabao -- member of the Standing Committee of the Politbureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee -- was approved as the premier of the State Council... for another five year term.

Meanwhile Guo Boxiong and Xu Caihou were re-named Vice Chairmen of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China.

Also approved during the meeting were eight CMC members.

Wang Shengjun was elected the president of the Supreme People's Court. And Cao Jianming became the Procurator-General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate.

China's Constitution stipulates that the candidate for premier of the State Council be nominated by the President of the State.

And that candidates for vice-chairmen and members of the Central Military Commission be named by the CMC chairman.

All candidates must be approved by lawmakers during the National People's Congress session.
