Special Report:   3.14 Tibet Riots

The Supreme People's Procuratorate says the judiciary will properly deal with the people who engage in creating unrest in Lhasa according to law.

Local officials say the death toll from Friday's riot has risen to 10. The victims were all innocent civilians. A notice has been issued urging lawbreakers in the riot to stop criminal activities, and offering leniency to those who turn themselves in.

It says the rioters have violated China's criminal law by killing innocent people, setting fires, confronting government departments and assaulting law enforcement officers.

The notice says the unrest in Lhasa since March the 10th is a political conspiracy by the Dalai clique to split Tibet from China.

Those who surrender and provide information on other lawbreakers will be exempt from punishment. Those who cover up or shelter lawbreakers will be punished in accordance with the law.
