The Chang'e One is still collecting data on the moon, while preparations are underway for the second phase of exploration.

The project is expected to go ahead in 2013. Four boosters will be used on the rockets to increase its lifting capability. They will land a probe on the moon, where it will work at temperatures of under minus 175 degrees Celsius for almost two weeks.

Hu Hao, director of Lunar Exploration Center, said, "The project is planned to start in 2013. This time, the rocket will be equipped with a 3.6 ton lunar probe. We also hope we can build a deep-space exploration network on earth."
