More US troops to be projected in Iraq

The Pentagon is projecting that when the US troop build-up in Iraq ends in July there will be about 8-thousand more troops on the ground than when it began in January 2007.

Lieutenant General, Carter Ham, says that by July, troop total is likely to be 140-thousand more than the original 132-thousand US President George W. Bush approved.

It has been widely expected that some support troops sent to the country will remain, even after July, although numbers are yet to be confirmed.
