New round of snow to hit China

Cold fronts from Central Asia moving eastward have brought a new round of snow to eastern, western and central China. Temperatures are beginning to fall sharply in many regions, and local authorities have launched emergency plans to ensure traffic flow.

In Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, a county in the city of Yili has reported 26 centimeters of snow, and 30 centimeters in some mountain areas in Tacheng region. And more snow is expected.

A large scale rain and snow system is covering central and western parts of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Some cities received 10 millimeters of snow, with a temperature drop of 2 to 4 degrees Celsius.

Snow began to fall in Shanxi and Shaanxi provinces on Saturday, with freezing weather in some areas. Hebei and Shandong provinces haven't seen heavy snowfall, but a sharp drop in temperature has affected traffic. Local governments have launched emergency plans to keep roads clean and safe.

China Meteorological Cetre forecasts medium and heavy snow will hit eastern, western and central China in the coming three days. And blizzards may hit the northwestern part of Hubei Province. Areas in central and eastern China can expect a temperature drop of 10 degrees Celsius.
