Special Report:   Winter Storm Relief

As transport and power supplies return to normal, there's been a shif from emergency work to reconstruction. The government has vowed to get supplies and infrastructure back to normal in snow-hit areas as soon as possible.

Hunan Province is one of the areas that was hardest hit by the weather.

Hunan Province is one of the areas that was hardest hit by the weather. More than 100,000 provincial officials have been visiting those in need of government help. To restore agricultural production, some 700,000 kilogrammes of vegetable seeds and nearly 6 million yuan have been sent to the province.

Vegetables and fruits will be sent from Guangdong Province in southern China to Hunan and Anhui provinces.

A special service that allows vehicles carrying agricultural products to skip the tolls on seven major arteries will be extended until March 31.

Coal mines in Shanxi province have been asked to continue their increased level of output as the power supply gets back to normal in afflicted areas. Coal production is up from 105 tons to 125 tons everyday.

Meanwhile, in Yunnan province in southwest China, chilly weather continues, with the province facing the worst snowy and icy weather in 30 years. The government is now gearing up to tackle the bad weather.
