Beijing-Zhuhai is one of the most important roads linking the north and the south. In Hunan Province alone, over 20,000 people have been stranded on the expressway.

Continuous snow and low temperatures have covered the Hunan part of the Beijing-Zhuhai expressway with thick ice. Vehicles are waiting in long queues.

This bus is from Anhui province and heading to Guangdong. There are over thirty children on board.

A driver said, "The children are going south to join their parents who are working in Guangdong for the Spring Festival. We have been waiting for three days, food and oil have all run out."

People living nearby have helped out by bringing them food. The road maintenance department provided quilts to help the children keep warm. A girl fell ill, and doctors were soon on the scene.

A docotr said, "There are five children with colds and another one with indigestion. All of them have taken medicine. So far it's only respiratory problems, no pneumonia has happened."

For the passengers delayed on road, local police have also come to help.

Slippery road conditions has forced policemen to wear cloth on their shoes to get a better grip. Despite the cold and ice, the delayed passengers feel warmth in their hearts with all the efforts from those who extended helping hands.
