Chinese president delivers New Year´s greetings to PLA veterans

BEIJING, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao delivered warm greetings and wishes to senior officials and retired officials of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) at a Spring Festival Party on Monday.

Hu, who is also General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, greeted the senior PLA officials, retired PLA officials and widows of former PLA officials. He then joined them to watch song and dance performances.

The senior PLA officials said that they would unite more closely around the CPC Central Committee with Hu Jintao as the General Secretary, and further study and follow the spirit of the 17th CPC National Congress.

The party was organized by the Central Military Commission. It was attended by Guo Boxiong, Cao Gangchuan, Xu Caihou and other senior army officials.
