On Monday, Machete-wielding gangs burned buses and homes, blocked roads, and tore up railway lines in Kisumu. They were hunting for members of Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki's Kikuyu tribe.

Elsewhere, members of the rival Kikuyu and Luo tribes clashed in Naivasha, 90 kilometers northwest of Nairobi.

Violence spread to the community over the weekend when at least 22 people were killed.

So far, more than 800 people have been killed and about 255 thousand people are homeless.
