Gordon Brown says Britain and China might be different in many ways, but they have much to offer each other.

Gordon Brown said, "Others see globalization as a risk, I see the rise of China and the reality of globalization not as a threat but an opportunity."

Brown says the two countries have already agreed to hold high-level economic and financial dialogue in the near future.

They've also set a goal of 60 billion US dollars for trade volume in 2010. And the UK wants about 100 more Chinese investment projects and to double the number of Chinese listings on the London Stock Exchange by 2010.

Prime Minister Brown's 3 goals by 2010

* increase trade volume to US$60 bn

* introduce 100 more Chinese investment projects

* double the number of Chinese listings on the LSE

Brown says another benefit to China from close bilateral ties is that the UK will continue to oppose protectionism forces and advocate openness of the world economy. UK entrepreneurs say the new growth point - technology and innovation - for the bilateral relations is naturally complementary.

Bill Thomson, OBE, Exec. chairman, said, "Chinese government is working on sustainable development, the UK can provide technology and expertise, also, the UK provide financing through its developed stock market."

Britain is currently China's third largest trade partner in the EU, as well as the bloc's leading investor in China.
