Registration for election of HK deputies to 11th NPC begins

Registration for the election of Hong Kong deputies to the 11th National People's Congress has begun.

On Saturday, 16 personnel from Hong Kong's political and business circles registered all of them expressing hope to contribute more to the nation.

To become a candidate for the election of Hong Kong NPC deputies, at least ten nominations from the region's electoral conference are needed. President of Hong Kong Legislative Council, Rita Fan has at least 40 nominations so far.

Rita Fan, president of HK Legislative Council, said, "I want to take the opinions of the people of Hong Kong to the mainland and to bring mainland people's opinions back to Hong Kong, so that we can better understand each other. With better understanding, we can have a more solid foundation of mutual trust and cooperation."

Former commissioner of the Independent Commission Against Corruption, Fanny Law has so far gained more than 60 nominations and seems very confident.

Fanny Law, former Commissioner of HK Ind. Comm, Against Corruption,said, "I have full confidence in myself. I have a lot of friends in Hong Kong. And I am well-connected with people in various fields. So far, I have spent most of my life serving Hong Kong. I hope I can spend the rest of my life serving the nation."

The nomination period for choosing candidates will run until the middle of this month. On January 25th, 35 new Hong Kong deputies will be elected at the second plenary session of the electoral conference.
