Supporters gather at Saddam Hussein´s tomb on anniversary of execution

Supporters of former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein have gathered at his grave to mark the first anniversary of his execution.

Hundreds of people, including many children, gathered at his tomb on Sunday in the village of Awja, just outside of Tikrit where Saddam was born.

Saddam was hanged for crimes against humanity in a rushed execution on December 30, 2006. Many Iraqi citizens say the security situation has worsened in the year since his execution.
