Serbian and Kosovo Albanian officials have failed to agree on the future status of Kosovo following three days of talks near Vienna, Austria.

Serbian President Boris Tadic says Serbian and Kosovo Albanian officials must continue to negotiate a solution.

Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica says the only place to solve the issue is at the UN Security Council and Serbia will not accept any other solution.

Both Serbian leaders say any unilateral move by Kosovo is "invalid" and Serbia will not accept independence for Kosovo. But Kosovo's prime minister-in-waiting Hashim Thaci insists on the region's independence and says there is no point continuing talks.

The talks were brokered by the EU, the US and Russia. The troika will present a report to the UN Secretary-General by December the 10th.
