The Chinese government will donate one million US dollars to Bangladesh for relief and reconstruction in cyclone-hit areas.

The Ambassador to Bangladesh Zheng Qingdian says the Chinese government is very concerned about the disaster and the well-being of affected people.

As a close neighbor, China will support Bangladesh's relief and reconstruction work. Ambassador Zheng also handed over 50,000 US dollars provided by the Red Cross Society of China to the Red Crescent Society of Bangladesh.

Cyclone Sidr hit Bangladesh's coastal regions last week killing over 3,000 people. It was one of the fiercest cyclones ever to hit Bangladesh.
