Special Report:   Chang'e I -Journey to the Moon

The Chang'e-One lunar orbiter is set to begin gathering data from the moon after repositioning itself late on Monday night and activating its probing facilities.

The equipment on board the satellite includes a stereo camera, an imager and a microwave detector.

The satellite has undergone a series of tests since it entered the 2-hour polar orbit 200 kilometers above the moon's surface in early November. It should send back its first picture of the moon in late November.
