British officials have confirmed a case of bird flu in turkeys in the county of Norfolk, in eastern England.

They say the turkeys have tested positive for the H5 strain of the disease. It is not yet known whether it is the deadly H5NI strain. Tests are being carried out and the results should be known on Tuesday.

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs says a three kilometer protection zone has been set up around the farm northeast of London. All birds on the premises will be slaughtered.
