Panda Mei Sheng arrives in China

Shanghai is the first stop in China for Mei Sheng, a panda who was born in the San Diego zoo four years ago. Full preparations have been made to receive the Panda.
Mei Sheng arrives at Pudong airport on Tuesday night and will then be flown to the Wolong Nature Reserve in the southwestern province of Sichuan Wednesday morning. The panda will be housed in a temperature controlled environment and provided with the appropriate diet.
An agreement between China and US stipulates the cubs born to pandas on loan to zoos also belong to China and should be returned at a certain age. Mei Sheng will spend the first month in quarantine.
