A magnitude 7.0 earthquake jolted the Indian Ocean off Indonesia's Sumatra island early on Thursday Indonesian time, the U.S. Geological Survey said. (Reuters)

A strong quake with a magnitude of 7.0 rocked the Western Indonesian island of Sumatra Thursday.

Indonesia's meteorological agency issued a tsunami warning after the quake. But the agency later lifted it.
