Hu Jintao, who is also the chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission, has met with military delegates of the 17th Party Congress. Senior military officers were also present at Monday's meeting.

The military delegates represent the Chinese People's Liberation Army and the Chinese People's Armed Police. Both are under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.

The military delegates said they will continue to study the content and essence of the Scientific Outlook on Development, and apply it to their work.

They promised to boost national defense and build an Army that will achieve its sacred mission, entrusted by the Party and the people.

Also present at the meeting were top military officers Guo Boxiong, Cao Gangchuan and Xu Caihou, along with other former and newly-elected members of the Central Military Commission.
