Shijiazhuang-to-Beijing section of Water Transfer near completion

The Shijiazhuang-to-Beijing section of the South-to-North Water Transfer project is nearing completion.
The project will relay water from the Yangtze River to the country's water-deficient north. The Shijiazhuang-to-Beijing stretch in Hebei province accounts for 1/3 of the project's middle-route section.
After three years of construction, over 90 percent of the 2,300-meter Cao river aqueduct has been finished. More than 80 new technologies have been incorporated in the construction in order to guarantee the project's quality.
Water from the Yangtze River is expected to reach Beijing via the aqueduct before the 2008 Olympic Games.
