The 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China has concluded Sunday morning after a week long session.

The Congress has been praised as an epoch making event. Leaders say socialism with Chinese characteristics and the outlook of scientific development have been firmly entrenched as the guideline for the future of the country. Hu Jintao presided over the closing session.

At the meeting, delegates elected members and alternate members of the 17th CPC Central Committee, China's Party's top decision-making body. They also elected members of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection. More than two thousand and two hundred delegates unanimously endorsed the resolution on the report of the 16th CPC Central Committee.
