Special Report:   17th CPC National Congress

The Party National Congress has not only attracted global interest, it's also being covered by major media throughout the nation. People from all walks of life have spoken to CCTV about their expectations of the event.

The color red. The sickle and hammer. The emblem of the CPC appears on the homepage of Xinhua -- the state news agency. Hundreds of thousands of people have showed their interest and hopes for the Party Congress in surveys by Xinhuanet.

Bai Lin, vice president of Xinhuanet, said, "Since mid-September, nearly 800 thousand people have participated in our surveys."

The People's Daily, one of the most influential newspapers in China, has focused its coverage of the Congress on the voices of the people.

Cao Huanrong from China Daily said, "We will report the process of the congress accurately, with facts, figures and examples. We'll fully report the voices of grassroots representatives."

As Beijing finalizes Congress preparations, locals hope the event will bring prosperity to the entire country.

Some Beijing residents expressed their concerns, "I'm concerned about issues such as education and medical care."

"I'm a retired worker. I hope the social security system will be improved."

Other issues attracting the most public interest include employment, power supervision, and anti-corruption measures.
