Number of CPC members hits 73.36 mln

The Communist Party of China says its membership has increased by more than 6.4 million since 2002.

The CPC now has more than 73 million members and over 3.6 million affiliated grassroots organizations.

Over the past five years, the number of female members has increased more than 22 percent, and the number of ethnic minority members has been up more than 11 percent. More than 6.6 million people with higher education have joined the Party since the last CPC National Congress in 2002.
