In Ukraine, three political powers are preparing for this weekend's parliamentary elections. They are President Viktor Yushchenko, Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich, and former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko. As Jenny Quan explains, the elections are aimed at ending the country's long-running political crisis.

Yushchenko held talks with Tymoshenko Thursday. The two sides will form a united front ahead of parliamentary polls. Yushchenko says Tymoshenko could return to office if voters returned an "orange" majority.

Yushchenko said, "We have only one option and that is forming a democratic coalition. There will be no other coalitions."

For her part, Tymoshenko says the alliance is a logical step and the only way to win the elections.

Yulia Tymoshenko said, "I truly believe that this is the most important thing to happen in the last few months. The coalition can only be a democratic one. And I support your thinking 300 percent. What we started together in the square was only the beginning. We will win on Sunday."

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich has also kicked off his campaign for Sunday's election.

In April, Yushchenko dissolved parliament. Political leaders overcame their disagreements and set early parliamentary elections for September the 30th.

Recent polls show Yanukovich's Regions Party in the led with thirty percent support, ahead of Yushchenko and Tymoshenko. But the coalition may bring changes in the final voting results.
