President Hu Jintao has met Sergei Mironov, who's chairman of the Russian Federation Council. The pair discussed Sino-Russian ties, legislature exchanges plus regional ties.

Meanwhile, Mironov also met for talks with top legislator Wu Bangguo and Premier Wen Jiabao.

Hu Jintao says this year's "Chinese Year in Russia" has received positive feedback from the people of the two countries -- as well as from the international community.

The Chinese President says exchanges and cooperation between the two legislatures are a crucial part of Sino-Russian ties. China hopes legislators on both sides will work for the development of relations between the two countries.

Hu Jintao says China and Russia should continue to expand their cooperation in organizations such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Mironov says Russia's political parties are in agreement on promoting a strategic partnership with China. The Russian Federation Council will continue its work with China's National People's Congress to promote the overall development of Sino-Russian ties. He also reiterated Russian's adherence to the "One China" Policy.

Top legislator, Wu Bangguo, and Mironov co-hosted the second session of China's NPC and the Russian Federation Council Cooperation Committee. Wu

suggested that the two sides expand exchanges between legislators and enhance the two countries' cooperation in regional and world affairs.

Chinese Premier Wen Jiaobao says the economic and trade relationships between the two countries have developed well in recent years. He says new plans will be set for the development of relations in the 12th regular meeting between Chinese and Russian premiers.
