Former Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori has ended his first day in jail. Fujimori has been extradited to Peru to face charges of corruption and human rights abuses. The country's Supreme Court President says Fujimori will be given a fair trial.

Alberto Fujimori returned to Peru on Saturday under heavy security after a 7-year exile in Japan and Chile.

He spent Saturday night in a 15-square-meter cell at the National Police's Special Operations Directorate in Lima.

Fujimori's daughter Keiko visited her father on Sunday, taking him drinks and food. She says her father was calm and had a cold.

Fujimori's daughter, Keiko Fujimori said, "My father arrived obviously exhausted. It's been a long trip. He also caught a chill because of the plane's air conditioner but he is calm, he is serene."
