First Malaysian astronaut to space

The first Malaysian astronaut will be sent to space in October. Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor and two other astronauts will live and work onboard the Russian segment of the International Space Station on a 10-day mission.

Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor said, "I will be representing Malaysia to go to space and I will be going for ten days with Peggy Whitson and Yuri Malenchenko. I will be conducting several experiments in space, mainly life sciences experiments, like cancer cells, bacteria, and protein catalisation, and we are also cooperating with European Space Agency to conduct several experiments with them. I do agree, that I am a Muslim, I am in Islam, but my main priority is more of conducting experiments."
